The Free Offer Script Outreach

Use this when reaching out to a nonprofit for the first time. Phone, email, or in person.

"Hi [Name]. I run a small firm called Alpine Grants that finds and applies for government and private funding on behalf of organizations like yours. We do all the work — we find the programs, write the applications, gather the documents, and follow up. Right now I'm looking for a few organizations to do this completely free, so I can build up some results to show future clients. There is no cost and no catch. If we win funding, great — that money is entirely yours. If we don't win, you lost nothing. Can I take a look at what you might qualify for?"

Intake Call Guide 20 min

After they say yes. Gather everything you need to run a funding match.

1
Organization basics — How long have you been operating? Are you a registered charity, nonprofit society, or sport association?
2
Who do you serve? — How many people annually? What age groups? Any focus on underrepresented communities (Indigenous, newcomers, low-income, girls/women)?
3
Budget and staff — What's your annual operating budget? How many paid staff and volunteers?
4
Current programs — What programs or services do you run? Walk me through them briefly.
5
Past grants — Have you ever received grant funding before? From whom? How much? When?
6
What do you need? — If you had funding right now, what would you use it for? Equipment? Programs? Staff? Facility upgrades?
7
Location — Where do you operate? City-wide, neighbourhood, province-wide?

The Paid Conversation Closing

When a prospect reaches out after you have documented wins.

"We used to take on a few free engagements when we were just starting out — we needed to build up some results to show people. We don't do that anymore because we have them. In the last few months we've helped organizations win $[total documented wins] in funding they weren't accessing. Our fee is always a fraction of what we find you. We start with a free 20-minute eligibility call where I can tell you right away if there is real money worth going after. If there is, we talk about what it costs to have us handle it. Want to book that call?"

Document Collection Checklist Post-Intake

What to request from the client after the intake call.

1
Business registration — CRA Business Number, provincial incorporation documents
2
Financial statements — Last 2 years of financial statements or budget reports
3
Letter from leadership — Board chair or ED letter of support (we can draft this for them)
4
Program descriptions — Any existing brochures, reports, or program summaries
5
Impact data — Number of participants, outcomes, testimonials, photos
6
Project budget — Detailed budget for what the funding will be used for

Testimonial Collection Post-Win

After a win, ask these three questions in writing or on video.

1
"What was your situation before we started working together?"
2
"How much money did we help you win, and what was the process like?"
3
"What would you tell another organization like yours about working with us?"
A testimonial that says "they found us $38,000 in funding we had no idea existed and did all the paperwork" is worth more than any ad you could ever run.
